Hailing from NY, dream pop/rock outfit Laveda set nostalgic and cinematic moods with a guitar driven sound reminiscent of The Sundays, Ringo Deathstarr, or Alvvays. Founding members Ali (vocals, guitar) and Jake (vocals, guitar, synths) voice the concerns of today’s younger generation in an early single “Better Now,” and say that this is a main theme throughout their debut record, titled What Happens After.

The band has played extensively in and around the New England/NYC area and completed a full 2-week Northeastern US/Canada tour in summer 2019. Just recently they embarked on a second tour down the East Coast (US) with bassist Dan Carr and drummer Joe Taurone that was due to culminate in Austin at SXSW (canceled due to COVID-19).

What Happens After has received acclaim critics around the world. NYC's Look At My Records! calls Laveda "a young band with a fully realized voice and perspective, and What Happens After couldn’t feel timelier." Toronto based blog Ohestee says "Jacob Brooks and Ali Genevich explore the great yawning unknown. From the freedom and uncertainty that rests at your fingertips or the distant and possibly desolate future, they capture adolescent restlessness with big walls of sound and a dreamy melodious warble." Canadian blog Tinnitis says "Over the course of these 10 songs, they strike a perfect balance between poppy melodies, sharp songcraft, cacophonous soundscapes and psychedelic expansiveness. Whatever comes next, they are living in the moment here."
